Christmas Card Outtakes

Allison

It's that wonderful time of the year when Christmas cards begin pouring into my mailbox. I love getting real mail!

I had this lovely image in my head of a photograph of Everett that I wanted to do for our card.

Somethings don't turn out like you imagine.

We have a nice holly bush along the back of our house, and that area gets nice light in the afternoon. I just bought him a new red sweater and knit hat, and I wanted his sweet face looking up and/or playing with the hollies, while smiling softly.

 First, his ear itched.

First, his ear itched.

Then, we put on his hat. See how the nice light just pops his eyes?

And, maybe his ear itched a little more.

 And his nose itched.

And his nose itched.

And then I got this shot. This was pretty much the shot, minus the happy the face. As his mother, I adore this shot. He cheeks, the red sweater and red hollies, the hat! But I didn't use it on the Christmas card. While I love it, I didn't want people to think he was sad about the holidays. So we tried some more.

By this time, the light was fading. I tried a few with the flash, thinking i could tone it down on the computer later.

 This was not going well.

 Seriously?!? With the nose again??

That was the end of that photo shoot.
