Stage 1: The floors

Allison

We love our new house! It's bigger with an amazing yard and tons of amenities.

But it needed some love. And by love, I mostly mean refinished floors, paint and replacement hardware throughout the house. So lots of little projects, but nothing that's major or detracts from the greatness of the house.

I've been deciding how to show all the work we've done, and I think I'll start by showing the move-in pictures. I didn't get truly great before shots because the house was so dirty and the floors in such bad shape that we immediately began work. The floor guys came the second day we owned the home.

But here's some idea

The dining room with its terrible walls. I have more on this later.

Moving is terrible. This is our front room looking into the dining room. The front room became our true living space while all the bedroom floors were redone.

Chris and I slept in the front room while the bedroom half of the house was sealed off for the floor redo.

And oh the floors.

Let's discuss.

This is all the carpet we pulled out of E's room and the guest room. It was so stained and nasty that you could see where the furniture had been by dark outlines.

The guest room didn't have hardwood under the carpet. It has been removed at some point. So we installed new wood to match the rest of the house.

Here's Everett's room after the carpet was removed and the floors were sanded.

And now for some results!

Here are the new floors in the guest room. So pretty!!

And the master, with the bed in its rightful place!

At this point, all the floors are finished!

Now it's time to work on the paint situation.

Stay tuned.
