Stage 2: The paint

Allison

With such great floors, I also wanted to get the walls done. We decided not to do every wall in the house, but the ones that really needed it. i.e., the ugliest ones.

This is E's room with its pink walls and now amazing floors. I put several swatches on the wall, but didn't choose any of them.

I chose this!

I chose this!

This was the guest bedroom. The worst color ever. I tried several colors on the wall, but didn't chose any of them.

I chose this! It's actually the same color in E's room.

The best decision I made was to have them paint all the shutters too. There were the dingy cream like the trim, and now everything is super clean and white!

Yay for crisp white instead of nasty, dirty cream.

The front bathroom had stripes, which I didn't hate in theory. But, again with the dingy whites and cream.

I found this runner that I liked a lot, and I pulled the blue out of it for the walls.

So much calmer and nice.

But, just in case I need a reminder of the stripes, I still have this.  For a little longer.

And finally, the big ta-da! The best makeup in the house. The dining room.

This place. Full of more dingy walls.

But these walls were extra special because they had a textured wallpaper that was at some point painted over. You could see all the seems; although, you couldn't feel them.

You think the coloration difference is shadows, but it's the crazy wall treatment!

And so I did this! I LOVE this blue.

And so I did this! I LOVE this blue.

It's in the same family with the bathroom color, and I think the smokey blue undertone is the best. It completely transforms this room, and I think it looks so great with our furniture. Even the chandelier that was already in there looks new.

Moral of the story is that paint is amazing.

We still have some rooms to repaint, but we'll get there.

For example, the hallway is currently this.

Hmmmm

Hmmmm

What should we do here?
